THEFT INVESTIGATION – ARREST R12-130492
As previously released – Recently, the Winnipeg Police Service has received several complaints regarding a suspicious female going door to door in the Elmwood and East Kildonan areas requesting money.
 
The investigation has revealed that the suspect attended to several residences at which time she would share a fictitious story to the occupant(s) about needing money to travel to northern Manitoba or the use of their phone to contact her boyfriend. After gaining entry to the home, the resident(s) are distracted and robbed of items such as: cellular phones, credit cards, cameras or anything else of value.
 
As a result of these reported incidents, members of the public were notified.
 
On December 12, 2012, at approximately 6:00 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the 500 block of Henderson Highway regarding a suspicious circumstance.
 
Attending members discovered that a female suspect knocked on the door of a residence in the area and requested to use the occupant's phone. The suspect was recognized due to the media release description previously made public.
 
Officers located and arrested the female in the area of the 300 block of Sydney Avenue.
 
Cheyenne Leigh BRUCE, 26 years of age has been charged with: Theft under $5000.00, Breach of Probation, Fail to Comply with Condition Recognizance x 2, due to her alleged involvement.
 
She was detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
 
The investigation is continuing.
