COMMERCIAL BREAK & ENTER, OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING UPDATE – C12-253529
As previously released, on Monday, December 17, 2012 at approximately 2:30 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the 400 block of Pandora Avenue West regarding the report of a Commercial Break & Enter in progress.
 
Several units converged on the area and with the assistance of the Canine Unit the suspect was tracked to the 800 block of Kernaghan Avenue.  A confrontation occurred between the suspect and arresting officers at which time an officer discharged his firearm.
 
There were no injuries as a result of the confrontation and the male suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
 
Michael Wayne GROZELLE, 49 years of Winnipeg has been detained at the Provincial Remand Centre and is facing the following charges:
 
- Break, Enter & Theft
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Possess Goods Obtained by Crime
- Breach of Probation
- Fail to Comply with Condition Recognizance
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERIES ARRESTS – C12-253521
On December 16, 2012 at approximately 7:30 a.m. a female armed with a knife and concealing her identity attended to a convenience store in the 100 block of Keewatin Street where she confronted the lone 22 year old clerk and demanded money.  The employee was able to activate an alarm and the suspect fled the store.  Nothing was stolen and there were no injuries as a result of this incident.
 
On December 16, 2012 at approximately 8:15 a.m. a female armed with a knife and concealing her identity attended to a business in the 1500 block of Logan Avenue where she confronted the lone 69 year old employee and demanded money.  A customer intervened and the suspect fled the store.  Nothing was stolen and there were no injuries as a result of this incident.
 
On December 16, 2012 at approximately 8:45 a.m. a female armed with a knife attended to a business in the 1300 block of McPhillips Street where she confronted the lone 27 year old male employee.  The suspect demanded and received and undisclosed amount of money after which she fled the store. There were no injuries as a result of this incident.
 
On December 16, 2012 at approximately 6:30 p.m. two females, one armed with a knife attended to a business in the 3600 block of Portage Avenue where the armed suspect confronted the lone 21 year old male employee.  The suspect demanded and received and undisclosed amount of money after which she and the second suspect fled in a vehicle. There were no injuries as a result of this incident.
 
On December 16, 2012 at approximately 10:30 p.m. two females, one armed with a knife and the other concealing her identity attended to a business in the 500 block of Pembina Highway where the armed suspect confronted the lone 16 year old male employee.  The suspect demanded and received and undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes after which she and the second suspect fled in a vehicle.  There were no injuries as a result of this incident.
 
On December 17, 2012 at approximately 1:50 a.m. a male and two females, one armed with a knife attended to a business in the 1300 block of McPhillips Street.  The two female suspects confronted the lone 23 year old male employee while the male suspect remained in a vehicle.  The suspects demanded and received an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes as well as personal property belonging to the employee.  The two suspects fled to the waiting vehicle and all three fled the scene.  There were no injuries as a result of this incident.
 
Several units converged on the area and minutes later the suspect vehicle was observed in the area of Keewatin Street and Selkirk Avenue.  The vehicle was stopped and all three suspects were taken into custody without incident.
 
Rebecca ROBSON, 32 years of Winnipeg is facing charges of Robbery x 7 & Wear Disguise x 2.


Gertrude Jo-Ann GLENDAY, 47 years of Winnipeg is facing charges of Robbery x 4 & Wear Disguise.

Kazim ROBINSON, 59 years of Winnipeg is facing charges of: Robbery x 2.
 
All three have been detained in custody.
 
 
SUSPICIOUS MALE – C12-253772
On Monday, December 17, 2012 at approximately 1:00 p.m. Winnipeg Police members were contacted regarding the report of a suspicious male.
 
At approximately 8:30 a.m. an eleven year old male was walking in the area of Bertrand Street and Youville Street when he was approached by a male in a van asking if she wanted a ride to school.  The youth did not acknowledge the male and continued on his way without further incident.
 
The male is described as: Caucasian with tanned skin, 40-50 years of age, messy gray hair.  He was observed to be wearing a black sweater.
 
The vehicle is described as a White Chevrolet family van.
 
Anyone who may have information regarding this incident or the suspect is asked to contact police or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
CADET COMMUNITY DAY
On Wednesday, December 18, 2012 between 12:00 p.m. & 3:00 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service Auxiliary Cadets will be hosting a 'Cadet Community Day' with students of Norquay School. 
 
The event is taking place at the Norquay Community Centre located at 65 Granville Street.  Activities include basketball, hockey & tobogganing and a great time is expected by all.
 
Members of the media are invited to attend.
