FESTIVE SEASON CHECKSTOP PROGRAM - WEEK #2 RESULTS
The Winnipeg Police Service Central Traffic Unit has provided the results from the second week of the Festive Season Check Stop Program. 
 
1350 - Vehicles were stopped
22 - Approved Screening Device (ASD) Tests were administered
4 - 24 hour suspensions were issued (ASD Warns)
9 - Drive Impaired/Over/Refusal Charges
29 - Traffic Related Provincial Offence Notices were issued
1 - Suspended Drivers
1 - Person was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act
 
 
FINANCIAL ROBBERY – ARREST C12-254524
On December 18, 2012, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Uniform Patrol and members of the WPS Canine Unit responded to a Credit Union located in the 1500 block of Regent Avenue West regarding a robbery incident.
 
Attending members were advised that a male armed with a gun, while dressed in clothing attempting to conceal his identity entered the business and confronted several employees. The suspect demanded money and fled with an undisclosed amount. No injuries were reported.
 
Members of the Canine Unit, with the assistance of Uniform Patrol tracked the suspect in a southwest direction. After a brief pursuit, the suspect was apprehended and placed under arrest.
 
Officers made a full recovery of the stolen money.
 
Rondell McGarrett JOHNSON, 39 years of age has been charged with: Robbery with Firearm, Disguise with Intent and Public Mischief due to his alleged involvement.
 
He was detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.   
 
 
UTTER THREAT – ARREST C12-254373
On December 18, 2012 at approximately 10:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a school in the St. Norbert area regarding a threat incident.
 
Officers launched an investigation into the threat made at which time a 17 year old student was identified. At approximately 11:40 a.m., the male was arrested and taken into custody.
 
He has been charged with: Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm.
 
He was detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre.
 
The Winnipeg Police Service would like to acknowledge that any type of threats made against members of the public is taken very seriously and will be investigated thoroughly.
