UTTER THREATS INVESTIGATION C12-187850
On September 17, 2012, Uniform Patrol members responded to a residence in the St. James area of the city regarding a complaint involving a 41 year old male and his guide dog.
 
The investigation has revealed that the victim and his guide dog were waiting in the area of Portage Avenue and Spence Street at approximately 8:00 a.m. when an unknown male approached them. The suspect began distracting the victim's dog at which time he was asked to stop. The suspect continued with this behaviour and eventually threatened to seriously harm both the victim and his dog.
 
The victim caught a bus travelling to the Polo Park area at which time the suspect followed.  The suspect continued to threaten the victim and his dog while on the bus despite several passengers attempting to intervene.
 
The victim eventually exited the bus and safely made his way to his destination and notified police.
 
As a result of the investigation, officers have located surveillance photos of the suspect. Despite on-going efforts by WPS members, the suspect has not yet been identified.  
 
The suspect is described as an: Adult male, appears Caucasian, 5'8"-5'9" tall, dark brown hair and a goatee. At the time of the incident, the suspect was observed to be wearing a dark jacket with red writing on the left front, light coloured hoodie and blue jeans.

SERIOUS SEXUAL ASSAULT – ARRESTS C12-243092
On December 1, 2012, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Sex Crimes Unit were notified of an incident involving a 27 year old female victim.
 
The investigation has revealed that the victim was walking to a store in the area of Burrows Avenue and Charles Street on December 1st at approximately 7:00 a.m. when she was approached by two unknown males in a vehicle.   
 
The suspects confronted the victim and forced her into the vehicle. The victim was taken to a suite within the city at which time a serious sexual assault occurred involving both suspects. The victim attempted to flee the residence but was unsuccessful.
 
One of the suspects then drove the victim to the area of Lorette, Manitoba where a sexual assault occurred within the vehicle. The victim was able to flee and make her way to a nearby business at which time police were notified.
 
As a result of the investigation, officers identified a residence in the area of Jefferson Avenue where a search warrant was executed on December 2nd at approximately 8:30 a.m. A 35 year old male was located in the suite and arrested.
 
The investigation continued and efforts to locate the second male were made public on Monday, December 3, 2012.
 
On December 3rd at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers located the second male suspect in the area of the 1400 block of Ross Avenue and placed him under arrest.
 
Michael Douglas HARDY, 35 years of age has been charged with: Kidnapping and Sexual Assault due to his alleged involvement.
 
Darcy Trevor STIRLING, 32 years of age has been charged with: Kidnapping, Sexual Assault and Theft Over $5000.00 due to his alleged involvement.
 
Both males were detained.
