PUBLIC ADVISORY- HOLIDAY SEASON CONSUMER SAFETY
The Winnipeg Police Service would like to remind the public to practice safe shopping in the lead up to the Holidays. Thefts from motor vehicles continue to be a concern throughout the city and Christmas gifts can make tempting targets for thieves. Shoppers are reminded keep purchases out of sight and secure them either in the truck, or in an area not visible from outside the vehicle.

GPS devices and personal electronics left in plain view are other items commonly prompting break-ins to vehicles.

Please consider the following:

- Park in well-lit areas and lock your vehicle at all times.
- Do not leave GPS devices attached to windshields or
  dashboards.
- Do not leave lap tops or other valuables inside your vehicle.
- When shopping, do not leave packages inside your car instead;
  place them in the   trunk or out of sight.

Remember: If you can see it, you can steal it!

If suspicious activity is observed in parking lots or within your community contact police immediately. Additional safety tips can be found on the Winnipeg Police Service website at: www.winnipeg.ca/police
