Erratic Driver Arrest – C15-90849
On May 5, 2015 at approximately 8:30 p.m., a grey Chevrolet Cavalier was observed to be driving erratically through the baseball fields and skateboard park at Marj Edey Park, located in the area of Ridgewood Avenue and Fairmont Road.

The driver of the suspect vehicle proceeded to speed across the baseball fields where children were playing and adults were present. The suspect entered the skateboard park eventually returning to the baseball fields before fleeing eastbound on Wilkes Avenue. The driver was also observed to narrowly miss an on-coming train in the area at the time.

As a result of the manner of driving by the suspect, several people in the area were forced to run for their safety.  A 25-year-old male was struck by the Cavalier however he sustained minor injuries.

At one point while the vehicle was doing donuts in the field, it slowed down and a male known to the driver got in. A short time later, the male passenger jumped from the moving vehicle fearing for his safety.

Officers located the abandoned Cavalier in the area of Eldrige Avenue and Elmhurst Road. The suspect was not located at that time.

Earlier this morning, officers located and took custody of the 21-year-old male suspect.

Members of the West District Crime Unit continue to investigate.

The 21-year-old male is facing numerous Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act offences.
