Assault Investigation Update – Arrests – C15-86841
As previously released, on May 1, 2015, shortly after 1:00 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the rear of a residence in the 200 block of Pritchard Avenue for the report of two injured males.
 
Two males were located and transported to hospital, one critical and one stable.  The first victim has since been upgraded to stable.
 
Four suspects were located and arrested without incident a short distance away.
 
Early investigation had revealed that an apparent altercation broke out between two separate groups, with several of the participants armed with weapons.
 
Members of the District 3 Crime Unit continued with the investigation.  It was learned that the four accused had been in the lane where the two victims along with two females were out in a backyard socializing.  A verbal altercation between the two groups escalated to the point where two of the four males produced edged weapons and then all four began assaulting the two victims.
 
The two victims, 18 and 19 years of age, suffered numerous injuries to the upper body.  The women were not injured.
 
A 16-year-old male of Portage La Prairie, Mb has been charged with Aggravated Assault x 2 for his alleged involvement.
 
A 16-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with Aggravated Assault x 2 and Mischief Under $5,000 for his alleged involvement.
 
A 17-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with Aggravated Assault x 2 for his alleged involvement.
 
An 18-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with Aggravated Assault x 2 and Fail to Comply with Disposition for his alleged involvement.
 
All were detained in custody.
 
 
Commercial Break & Enter Arrest – C15-86888
In the early hours of May 1, 2015, the Winnipeg Police Service received the reports of three commercial Break & Enters occurring within a brief time period in the 300 & 100 blocks of St Anne's Road as well as the 500 block of St Mary's Road.  The incident in the 300 block of St Annes Road was witnessed by a passer-by who contacted police and provided a vehicle description.
 
Responding members observed the vehicle in the area of Marion Street and Lagimodiere Boulevard at which time it was stopped without incident and the suspect taken into custody.
 
Members of the East District Crime Unit continued with the investigation and learned that the suspect was responsible for a further 10 commercial break & enters that had occurred over the past two weeks.  They include:

  • April 8 – 1600 block of St Mary's Road
  • April 15 – 800 block of Dakota Street
  • April 16 – 1700 block of Plessis Road
  • April 23 – 1600 block of Day Street
  • April 24 – 100 block of Archibald Street
  • April 25 – 600 block of St Anne's Road
  • April 28 – 800 block of Dakota Street
  • April 29 – 1st 100 block of Island Shore Boulevard
  • April 30 – 1st 100 block of Island Shore Boulevard
  • April 30 – 200 block of Meadowood Drive

In total, the accused is responsible for over $14,000.00 in damages and over $37,000.00 in stolen cash and merchandise.
 
Zachariah Brad MASTERVICK, 38 years of Winnipeg has been charged with multiple property related crimes for his alleged involvement.
 
He was detained in custody.
 
 
Stabbing Investigation – C15-87790
On May 2, 2015, shortly before 3:30 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of Sherbrook Street and Sara Avenue for the report of an injured male.
 
An adult male was located and found to be suffering from an apparent stab wound to the upper body.  He was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.
 
No arrests have been made.
