Motor Vehicle Collision Involving a Cyclist –
C14-151849

On July 19, 2014 shortly after 2:00 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of Salter Street and College Avenue for the report of cyclist having been struck.
 
A 40 year old male was located and transported to hospital where he remains in critical condition.
 
Early investigation has revealed that the cyclist was east bound in the lane between College Avenue and Boyd Avenue.  Without stopping, the cyclist exited the lane directly into the path of a southbound vehicle.  The driver immediately stopped, called 911 and remained on scene.
 
Alcohol consumption by the cyclist is being considered as a factor in this collision.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Central Traffic Unit.  Anyone with information regarding this incident, who has not yet spoken with police, is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6271.
