Assault with a Weapon- Arrests – C14-149850

On July 16, 2014 shortly after 5:00 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service members responded to an apartment complex in the area of Broadway and Young Street for a report of a fight occurring in front of the building. 
 
A number of police units arrived and discovered a mutual fight had broken out between a 21-year-old male and a 40-year-old male.  During the fight a 19-year-old male, known to the 21-year-old, intervened and fired a number of rounds from a pellet gun striking the 40-year-old male in the upper body.
 
The assault continued with an adult female joining in. The victim managed to flee to a nearby business where he was subsequently transported from the scene with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
As a result of the continued investigation by Division 11 Uniform members and assisted by Crime Unit detectives, a 19-year-old male and a 48-year-old female have been arrested in connection with this incident.
 
As a result of his alleged involvement, Stephen Linden SEYMOUR, 19 years of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following offences:
 

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Discharge a Firearm with Intent and
  • Possession of Weapon

 
SEYMOUR has been detained in custody.
 
The 48-year-old female is facing a charge of Assault.  She has been released on a Promise to Appear in court at a later date.
 
The investigation is continuing.
 
 
Indecent Act Update- Arrest – C14-140505
As previously released, on July 4, 2014 at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers responded to a clothing store located in the 1500 block of Regent Avenue West regarding the report of an indecent incident.
 
Officers met with a 23-year-old female victim who reported that an unknown male approached her from behind while she was shopping and possibly photographed or video recorded her from underneath her dress.
 
The investigation has revealed that the suspect initially looked up the victim's dress and then proceeded to use a cellular device to record. The victim confronted the suspect at which time he fled the store.
 
As a result of the continued investigation by East District Crime Unit, a suspect male was identified. 
 
On July 16, 2014 at approximately 11:20 a.m. a 26-year-old male was arrested and taken into custody at a residence in the area of Guy Savoie Drive and Shady Shores Drive.
 
He has been released to appear in court at later date.
 
Commercial Robbery- Arrests- C14- 148669
On July 15th 2014, at approximately 4:40 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service responded to a gas station within the 100 block of Salter Street for a report of robbery that had just occurred. 
 
Upon arrival officers met with the 25-year-old victim who advised that four male suspects with their faces concealed, entered the store and demanded cigarettes and cash. One suspect was armed with a firearm.
 
The suspects obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes and prior to fleeing the store, a firearm was discharged.  There were no injuries. 
 
Responding units, assisted by a canine unit immediately attended to the scene.  Officers converged on a residence within the 100 block of Robinson where a 20-year-old male was taken into custody without incident.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.
 
As a result of their alleged involvement, Michael Theodore EDWARDS, 20 years, Brandon David RICHARD, 20 years, both of Winnipeg, along with two 17-year-old males are facing a number of charges including Robbery with a Firearm.
 
All males were detained in custody.
 
 
Strong-arm Robbery Update- Arrests-  C14-147003
As previously released, on July 12, 2014, at approximately 4:00 p.m., three friends, two 18 year-old females and an 18 year-old male, left the Polo Park mall when they began walking to the creek area under the railway bridge east of Empress Street and Westway.
 
The group remained in the area taking pictures when they were confronted by several suspects. The three victims were surrounded at knifepoint and robbed of their property.
 
The male victim was assaulted in the upper body causing him to fall to the ground. One of the female victims was robbed of her bank card and PIN, resulting in an undisclosed amount of cash being withdrawn by the suspects. 
 
The victims were held at knifepoint for nearly an hour and a half while the suspects robbed, threatened and assaulted the victims.
 
The victims were eventually allowed to leave and police were notified.
 
The male victim sustained minor injuries, however all three (victims) were robbed of their property. (Identification, Debit card, cash & cellular phones) 
 
As a result of the continued investigation by the West District Crime Unit, suspects were identified. 
 
On July 17, 2014 shortly after 3:00 p.m. two males, aged 17 and 19 years, were taken into custody without incident in the area of Denson Place and Wolever Avenue.
 
As a result of his alleged involvement, Dylan Carmen ANDERSON, 19 years, of Winnipeg has been charged with three counts of both Robbery and Forcible Confinement.
 
The 17-year-old male is also facing these same charges with an additional charge of Failing to Comply with Disposition.
 
Both have been detained in custody.
 
This investigation is continuing and further arrests are pending.
