Fatal Stabbing Update - Arrest – C14-138231
As previously released, on July 1, 2014 at approximately 10:15 p.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of Main Street and Broadway for the report of a stabbing.
 
Two adult males were located suffering from apparent stab wounds.  Both were transported to hospital in critical condition, where one later died of his injuries.
 
The deceased victim has been identified as Tanner Roland BEAULIEU 25 years of Winnipeg.
 
It was learned that the two victims, along with two others, had been walking in the area when they came in contact with a group of six people.  A verbal exchange took place between the two groups which escalated to the point where the accused, who was in the second group, armed himself with a weapon and stabbed the victims.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Homicide Unit who were able to identify a suspect.
 
On July 3 shortly after 10:30 p.m. Kevin Glenn BUNN 25 years of Winnipeg was located and arrested without incident.  He has been charged with Second Degree Murder & Attempt to Commit Murder for his alleged involvement.
 
BUNN was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
No further arrests are expected.
 
 
Aggravated Assault Update – Male Arrested –
C14-138089

As previously released, on July 1, 2014 at approximately 6:30 p.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the  1500 block of Regent Avenue West for the report of a male having been stabbed.
 
Upon arrival a 34 year old male was found to be suffering from stab wounds to the upper body.  He was transported to hospital in critical condition.
 
Initial investigation has revealed that the victim and suspect, along with three others, had been together in an area parking lot when an argument between the two occurred.  The argument turned physical, ending when the suspect produced a weapon and stabbed the victim in the upper body.
 
The investigation continued by members of the East District Crime Unit who identified Michael John Ernest WERETA as a suspect.  A warrant for his arrest was obtained and the public's assistance was requested in locating him.
 
On July 3 at approximately 5:00 p.m. WERETA was located and arrested without incident.  He has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance x 4 & Breach of Probation for his alleged involvement.
 
WERETA was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
Assault With A Weapon Update – Male Arrested – C14-139032
As previously released, on July 2, 2014 shortly before 10:00 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the 1900 block of Portage Avenue for the report of a male having been stabbed.
 
Officers located a 44-year-old male suffering from upper body injuries as a result of having been stabbed.  He was transported to hospital in stable condition.
 
Initial investigation has revealed that the victim along with a friend had been sitting in a parked vehicle when a male on a bike hit them.  When the victim attended to the male to see if he was alright, the male produced and weapon, stabbed the victim and then fled on the bike.
 
A photo of the suspect was released and the public's assistance requested in identifying him.
 
At approximately 4:00 p.m. investigators were in the area of Ness Avenue and Century Street when they observed the suspect on the bike.  He was arrested without incident.
 
Frazer Anthony SCHMIDT 26 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Aggravated Assault & Assault with a Weapon for his alleged involvement. 
 
He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
Stabbing Investigation Update – C14-139227
As previously released, on July 3, 2014 shortly before 5:00 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 300 block of Carlton Street for the report of a stabbing.
 
Officers located two adult victims suffering from apparent stab wounds to the upper body.  Both were transported to hospital, the female in critical condition while the male was unstable.  Both were later upgraded to stable condition.
 
An adult female was arrested at the scene without incident.
 
The investigation continued by members of the District 1 Crime Unit.
 
Debbie Lynn DUNSFORD 27 years of Little Grand Rapids, Mb has been charged with Aggravated Assault x 2 & Fail to Comply with Probation Order for her alleged involvement.
 
She was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
Stabbing Investigation – C14-139955
On July 4, 2014 at approximately 1:00 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 100 block of Osborne Street for the report of a male having been stabbed.
 
An 18-year-old male was located suffering from a stab wound to the upper body.  He was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
 
Investigators are currently interviewing several people and the investigation is continuing by West District Crime Unit members. 
 
No further information is available at this time.
