On March 18, 2014 at approximately 1:15 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service Members responded to a strip mall within the 1200 block of St. Mary's Road for the report of male that had been seen entering a business.
 
Upon arrival, officers met with a witness and learned that the suspect male had fled, dropping some of the stolen goods in the progress.
 
Uniform members and a canine unit, recovered the merchandise and conducted a search of the area for the suspect which met with negative results. 
 
The suspect is described as: Male, 5'6"- 5'8" tall, with a slim build, wearing a hoodie, dark pants and a dark touque.
 
This investigation is continuing by members of the East District Crime Unit.  Anyone who has any information regarding the incident or the suspect is asked to contact investigators at (204)986-2857 or Crime Stoppers at (204)786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
COUNTERFEIT MONEY- ARREST                C14-51856
On March 12, 2014 shortly before 4:00 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service Members were dispatched to attend to a retail store within the 400 block of Portage Avenue after an alert cashier encountered a male attempting to pay with counterfeit US twenty-dollar bills.
 
Upon arrival officers met with security and took custody of the suspect male. The suspect was in possession of numerous counterfeit Canadian and American bank notes.
 
Members of the Commercial Crime Unit continued with this investigation.  On March 13, 2014, a search warrant was obtained for residence in the area of Yale Avenue East and Wabasha Street. 
 
Following the following execution of the search warrant, investigators seized a scanner/printer, a laptop, and both, completed counterfeit bills and partially completed counterfeit bills.
 
A 28-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing a number of charges including Possess Counterfeit Instruments, Making Counterfeit Money and the Possession and Uttering of Counterfeit Money. 
 
He has been released to appear in court at a later date.
