CRIME PREVENTION TIP  Door to Door Scams   When someone knocks at your door claiming to represent a Charity, company or any organization seeking donations or funding be cautious. First look at their appearance, Are they in uniform? Do they have a company car identifying their companies logo? Do they have the proper credentials such as an identity tag with photo or Charity registration number.  Anyone representing a legitimate  Charitable organization in Canada has to have a registration number.   If the person cannot provide you with any of the above information do not deal with them and simply tell them you are not interested.  Contact the Winnipeg Police Non- emergency line (204-986-6222) to report the event.      For further Crime Prevention information visit our website at http://www.winnipeg.ca/police/tblofcontents/crimeprevention.stm
