Winnipeg E-Watch is an online tool created by the Winnipeg Police Service Crime Prevention Section.  This program is designed to alert you via email of recent crime activity in your community, and to provide you with timely crime prevention tips, tools and information.

Forms of Abuse:


  • Physical Abuse
  • Sexual Abuse
  • Psychological Abuse
  • Financial Abuse
  • Neglect

Who are the Abused?
Women/ Men  " younger " as well as " older " persons.  Healthy as well as frail, from all income levels, racial, religious and ethnocultural  backgrounds.
Who are the Abusers?
Both women and men who are related to the victim through kinship or a position of trust.
Signs of Abuse:


  • Repeated incidents of unexplained physical injuries and/or accidents.
  • Unexplained delay in seeking treatment for injuries.
  • Sexually transmitted disease in a person who is not known to be sexually active.
  • Rent/mortgage/utility bills unpaid or in arrears.
  • Symptoms of depression, anxiety, fearfulness,  low self-esteem.
  • Malnutrition and/or dehydration.
  • Deterioration in personal hygiene, untreated wounds.
  • Withdrawal, a sense of hopelessness and resignation, suicidal ideation.

What to Do About It:
If you or someone you know is being abused, seek help from a social worker, public health nurse, doctor, clergyman, or police.
