Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

Saturday, March 2, 2013     ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON – ARREST C13-40146 On February 28, 2013 at approximately 9:10 p.m., Uniform Patrol members responded to a hotel located in the 600 block of Main Street regarding a stabbing incident.   An injured 38 year old male victim was located.   The investigation has revealed that the victim and female suspect were together in the hotel when an altercation erupted. As a result, the female stabbed the victim.   The female suspect was located within the hotel and arrested at approximately 9:35 p.m.   The victim was transported from the scene in critical condition. He is now listed in stable but guarded condition.   The investigation continued by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit.   Sherri MAMAKEESIC, 40 years has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Fail to Comply with Condition of a Recognizance due to her alleged involvement.   She was detained.     ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON – ARRESTS C13-40836 On March 1, 2013, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers responded to the area of Notre Dame Avenue and Pearl Street regarding an assault involving multiple victims.   It was determined that earlier in the evening, an 18 year old male and 18 year old female victim were initially confronted by three suspects while in the area of Ellice Avenue and Banning Street. As a result, one of suspects produced a canister of bear spray and discharged it in the direction of the male victim.   As a result, the male victim sought out treatment.   Later in the evening, the 18 year old female victim, now in the company of a 16 year old male was walking in the area of Notre Dame Avenue and Pearl Street when they encountered the same suspects. This meeting resulted in a physical altercation and further bear spray being discharged. Injuries were sustained.   Officers responded locating all three suspects and placing them under arrest.   The investigation continued by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit.   A 21 year old male, an 18 year old female and 20 year old male are facing numerous charges which include: Assault, Assault with a Weapon and Assault Cause Bodily Harm.   They were released on a Promise to Appear.     For further information contact either: Constable Jason Michalyshen, Public Information Officer Constable Eric Hofley, Public Information Officer Office: (204)986-3061 Fax: (204) 986-3267 Email: WPS-PIO@Winnipeg.ca   Web: www.winnipeg.ca/Police
