Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

Sunday, March 17, 2013 SERIOUS SEXUAL ASSAULT – C13-050989 On Sunday, March 17, 2013 at approximately 5:00 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the 800 block of Sherbrook Street for the report of a sexual assault that had occurred earlier.   Attending officers met with the 25 year old female victim who advised that around 2:00 a.m. she had been walking in the area of Beverly Street and Sargent Avenue when she was approached by an unknown male.  The male produced a weapon and proceeded to commit a serious sexual assault upon her after which he fled.   The victim was treated for injuries and released from hospital.   The suspect is described as: Aboriginal in appearance, 30 years of age, approximately 6' in height with short black hair and a heavy build.   The investigation is continuing by members of the Sex Crimes Unit.
