Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

Monday, March 11, 2013     FIRE UPDATE – C13-043558 As previously released- on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at approximately 11:30 p.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the Children's Hospital in 800 block of Sherbrook Street for the report of a working fire.   Responding members located a fire that was mainly contained to the open construction area adjacent to the hospital.    Smoke from the fire entered the Children's Hospital resulting in the evacuation of a large number of patients and staff members.   No injuries were reported.   Damage to the building is estimated at $1,000,000.00.   At this time, the cause of the fire appears to have been deliberately set.
