Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

FIREARM DISCHARGE - ARRESTS C13-42222
On March 3, 2013 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Uniform Patrol and members of the Tactical Support Team responded to reports of a firearm discharged in a vehicle located in the 200 block of Portage Avenue.
 
The investigation has revealed that two males became involved in a drug transaction while in a vehicle (Honda CRV) with a third unknown male in the Garden City area. During the transaction, the unknown male produced a modified shotgun and confronted the two males. In response, one of the two males produced a replica firearm and challenged the male with the shotgun. As a result, the male with the shotgun fled, leaving the gun behind. No shots were fired.    
 
The two males then drove to the area of the 200 block of Portage Avenue after picking up an associate. While parked, the three males began handling the shotgun previously left behind and discharged it into the door of the vehicle. No one was injured. Police were summoned as a result.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit.
 
A search of the vehicle has revealed: Cash, Marihuana, Replica pistol and a Modified Shotgun.
 
Three adult males remain in police custody. They are facing several weapon and drug related offences.
 
 
MISCHIEF UNDER $5000.00 – ARREST C13-41733
On March 3, 2013 at approximately 1:55 a.m., Uniform Patrol, members of the Tactical Support Team and Air1 responded to the Elmwood area of the city regarding several parked vehicles being shot at with a bb-gun.
 
Attending members identified five vehicles with damage, having their windows shot out.
 
At approximately 2:00 a.m., AIR1 began searching the area for the suspect vehicle and occupants. Members of the Flight Operations Unit (Air1) located the suspect vehicle travelling westbound over the Redwood Bridge at which time ground units were notified. Due to the co-ordinated efforts of all members involved, the vehicle was safely stopped and four occupants were taken into custody.
 
A 17 year old male is facing the following charges: Mischief Under $5000.00 x 5 and Possess Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.
 
He was released.
