Sexual Assault – C15-42099
On February 28, 2015 at approximately 6:50 p.m., a 19-year-old female was working at a department store located in the 1400 block of Portage Avenue.
 
Earlier in the evening staff observed a suspicious male who appeared to be taking pictures/video of them while he shopped.
 
The victim was approached by the male who requested assistance. It was at this time the suspect made inappropriate contact with the victim and fled the store.
 
The suspect is described as: male, Caucasian, 5'9" tall, slim build, late 20's, early 30's, clean shaven and very short dirty blonde hair.
 
Members of the West District Crime Unit continue to investigate. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-2877 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).  
 
 
Motor Vehicle Collision – C15-42736
On March 1, 2015 at approximately 7:00 p.m., a black Mitsubishi Outlander was observed travelling northbound on Watt Street from Talbot Avenue at a high rate of speed.
 
The lone occupant/driver of the Mitsubishi lost control and came to a stop after colliding with a large billboard sign post near Chalmers Avenue. The impact caused the vehicle to flip upside down.
 
A 29-year-old male was transported from the scene in critical condition.
 
Members of the Traffic Collision Investigation (TCI) Unit continued the investigation with the assistance of Patrol members.

Update - Male Shot - Arrests – C15-38688
As previously released -On February 24, 2015, shortly after 1:30 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the 200 block of Dufferin Avenue for the report of a male shot.
 
A 19-year-old male was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.  He was transported to hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to stable.
 
It has been determined that a group of males attended to the residence armed with a gun. Once there, they knocked on the door and waited for the victim to answer. It was at this time one of the suspects discharged the gun in the direction of the victim.
 
The suspects fled and emergency personnel were notified.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit.
 
On February 28, 2015 at approximately 1:00 a.m., two of the suspects were located and arrested in the area of the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue.
Aaron CHARTRAND, 19-years-old and a16-year-old male have been charged with the following due to their alleged involvement:
 
CHARTRAND:
Attempt to commit murder
Pointing a firearm
Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized x 2
Possession of a weapon
Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
Discharge a Firearm in a reckless manner
Disguise with intent
Fail to comply condition recognizance x 2
Breach of recognizance x 2
 
16-year-old male:
Attempt to commit murder
Pointing a firearm
Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized x 2
Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
Discharge a Firearm in a reckless manner
Disguise with intent
 
Both male were remanded into custody.
 
The investigation continues.
