Single Motor Vehicle Collision C15-54286
On March 17, 2015, at approximately 11:45 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service Members were travelling eastbound on Grant Avenue approaching Kenaston Boulevard when officers observed people flagging down their patrol unit and a large amount of smoke coming from the area of a condominium block.
Upon approach, a vehicle was fully engulfed in flames, which had spread up the wall of the building. Officers immediately attended and pulled the male from the vehicle.
The 65-year-old driver was transported from the scene and is expected to make a full recovery.
No injuries were sustained to either officer or the 21-year-old male who had also attended to this collision and had attempted to remove the driver from his vehicle.
Damage to the property and vehicle are estimated at $95,000.
Sexual Assault R15-19723
On March 16, 2015, the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of a sexual assault that had occurred earlier that day at approximately 10:00 a.m., in the 700 block of Main Street.
The 29-year-old victim related that a male suspect approached and engaged her in conversation. He suddenly produced a weapon and asked if she wanted to perform a sex act. The victim declined and the suspect left.
The victim was not injured.
The suspect is described as: Aboriginal in appearance, approximately 5'4" tall with a skinny build. He had a 2" scar on his left cheek and a large 'hickey' or bruise on the left side of his neck. He was wearing a black jacket, green, zippered hoodie with a face logo on the front of the hood and track pants.

Financial Robbery- C15- 53937
On Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at approximately 1:40 p.m. Winnipeg Service Police Members responded to a bank in the 300 block of Broadway for the report of robbery that had just occurred.
Upon arrival officers learned that a suspect male had attended to a female teller, demanding money and indicated that he was armed.
The suspect was provided with an undisclosed amount of money before he fled.
The suspect is described as: Male, approximately 50 years of age, approximately 5'4" to 5'8" tall with an average build and reddish hair. He was wearing a blue jean jacket and a hoodie.

Homicide- Update- Arrest- C12-73742
As previously released, on April 24, 2012, at approximately 2:30 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service and emergency services personnel responded to the area of Notre Dame Avenue and Balmoral Street regarding a stabbing.
A 26-year-old male, later identified as Daniel William Hall, was located lying on the roadway and transported to the hospital in life-threatening condition.
On April 27, 2012, the victim succumbed to his injuries.
On Tuesday, March 17, 2015, officers came into contact with a 20-year-old male during a call for service. This male provided information relative to this 2012 investigation and he was subsequently turned over to members of the Homicide Unit.
As a result of his alleged involvement, the 20-year-old from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:
- Second Degree Murder
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Recognizance
This investigation is continuing.

Motor Vehicle Collision- Arrest- C15-54223
On Tuesday, March 17, 2015, shortly before 10:00 p.m., emergency services personnel were dispatched to the area of Higgins Avenue and McCarthur Street for the report of a vehicle that had struck a house.
Fire fighters extricated the passenger from vehicle, before both male occupants, 24 and 27 years, were transported by paramedics to the hospital in non-life threatening condition.
As a result of the continued investigation by Division 11 and 13 members, the 24-year-old driver has been charged with Driving While Ability Impaired.
He has been released to appear in court at a later date.
