2015  Dufferin Hockey Academy Year End / Community Walk
On March 18th, the Dufferin Hockey Academy will be completing their third extremely successful year. Accomplishing such incredible success comes directly from a community based approached with support from everyone involved.  It has been, and continues to be, totally awe-inspiring.

Participants will all be students from the Dufferin Hockey Academy program. This includes Community volunteers, Dufferin School, Hugh John MacDonald Jr High and members of the Winnipeg Police Service & Winnipeg Police Cadets.

We would like the community and students to know how proud we are of being in such an accepting and supportive community.   At 1:00 p.m. we will show this by walking with the entire Dufferin elementary students. The walk will take 10-15 minutes, starting at Dufferin School (545 Alexander) and finishing at Pioneer Arena on Logan.

At 1:20 the Central Flames Girls Bantam Hockey team, who train at the Dufferin Hockey Academy, will have a quick 20 minute game against the coaches and instructors from the Academy.  A celebration, including food and refreshments will take place at the end of the game.

We hope we can count on your support to show the students and the Community that we all really do "Walk the Walk and Talk the Talk"

If you have any questions please contact Cst. Garnie McIntyre at gmcintyre@winnipeg.ca or (204) 918-1406.

The Dufferin Hockey Academy is aimed primarily at Aboriginal youth between the ages of 5 and 13. The program takes place Wednesdays throughout the school year. About 45 kids take part with the Winnipeg Police Service members along with community members involved volunteering their time. The program has played a significant role in putting a smile on these future citizens and the opportunity to see the Police and community members through a different filter.
