DRUG AND FIREARM INVESTIGATION – ARRESTS   C13-251036
In December 2013, East District, West District and Division 11Community Support Unit members, with the assistance of Patrol officers, members of the Tactical Support Team and Safer Neighbourhoods (Manitoba Justice) became involved in a drug investigation.
 
Initially, the investigation led to a traffic stop which took place on December 7th, 2013 at 5:50 p.m. in the area of Thames Avenue and Watt Street. Three occupants, consisting of a39 year-old male, 30 year-old female and a 15 year-old male were arrested and taken into custody.
 
A Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrant was then executed at two residences located in the 500 block of Chalmers Avenue. A 21 year-old female was located inside one of the residences and arrested.
 
A search of the homes resulted in officers locating and seizing the following items:
 
12 oz. - Methamphetamine - estimated street value - $90,000.00
2.5 lbs. – Marijuana – estimated street value - $7,500.00
An additional 25 grams of marijuana
Digital scales
Sawed-off rifle x 2
Assault rifle x 2
Hunting rifle
Shotgun
Several hundred rounds of ammunition
Several (throwing) knives – Prohibited weapons
Brass knuckles x 2
Bear spray
Several cellular phones
Eight ball
Other drug related paraphernalia
 
The four accused in this matter are facing numerous drug and weapon related offences. One male remains outstanding. The investigation is continuing.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – ARREST   C13-251275
As previously released –on August 23, 2013 shortly after 10:00 p.m., Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to a gas bar located in the 1400 block of St. Mary's Road for the report of a robbery incident.
 
Responding members met with a 39 year-old clerk.  She advised that a lone male, while concealing his identity, attended behind the counter where he proceeded to steal an undisclosed amount of money. The clerk was not injured and the suspect fled.
 
On December 7, 2013, at 12:15 a.m., a male suspect entered a convenience store located in the 700 block of St. Mary's Road and confronted a 27 year-old male employee. The armed suspect demanded money and fled the business with an undisclosed amount. No one was injured.
 
The investigation led to the identification of the male suspect. At 1:30 a.m., officers attended to a residence located in the St. Vital area and arrested the male allegedly involved.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued the investigation.
 
Jeremiah MURDOCK, 29 years-oldhas been charged with the following offences:
 
Armed Robbery – weapon/imitation
Robbery with violence
Disguise with intent
 
He remains in custody.
