SERIOUS MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION UPDATE - ARREST - C13-185798
As previously released, on September 12, 2013 at approximately 9:50 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of McPhillips Street and Machray Avenue regarding a serious collision involving a motorcycle and cyclist.
The investigation revealed that a Triumph motorcycle was being operated by a 32 year old male northbound on McPhillips Street. In the area of the intersection, the driver of the motorcycle collided with the cyclist.
The driver of the motorcycle was ejected which resulted in serious injuries. He was transported in critical condition.
The cyclist, a 23 year old male sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Both speed and alcohol were factors in the collision.
Members of the Central Traffic Unit continued with the investigation and on December 13 the driver of the motorcycle, a resident of Winnipeg, was arrested and is facing charges of:
- Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle
- Driving While Ability Impaired Causing Bodily Harm
- Driving with more than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood Causing Bodily Harm
- Drive without motor vehicle liability insurance (H.T.A.)
- As a novice driver who has alcohol in his or her blood, operate or have care or control of a motor vehicle or off-road vehicle (H.T.A.)
He was released via a Promise to Appear.
