DRUG AND WEAPON INVESTIGATION – ARREST   C13-257897
On December 16, 2013 at approximately 4:35 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service conducted a traffic stop involving a Chrysler Sebring while travelling in the area of the 100 block of Watt Street. A male and female were taken into custody as a result of the lengthy drug investigation.
 
At approximately 5:20 pm., members of the East District Community Support Unit, with the assistance of Patrol members, Tactical Support Team, and members of the Canine Unit executed Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrants at two residences; Gordon Avenue and Talbot Avenue.
 
As a result of these searches, the following was located and seized:
 
$2145.00 Canadian currency
6.5 ounces of powdered Cocaine - estimated street value $7,800.00
14 tablets of Xanax – estimated street value $30.00
A loaded .40 calibre handgun with additional ammunition
 
A 24 year-old male is facing numerous weapon and drug related offences.
 
He was released on a Promise to Appear.
 
 
BREAK, ENTER AND THEFT - ARRESTS   C13-257725
On December 16, 2013 at approximately 12:30 a.m., three male youth attended to a grocery store located in the 500 block of Dufferin Avenue and forced entry by smashing through a large window.
 
Once inside, the suspects stole a cash register containing cash, as well as numerous assorted food products. The suspects then proceeded to ransack the business by turning over display tables causing nearly $5000.00 damage.
 
The three suspects fled to a nearby residence.
 
Once police were notified of the break-in, Patrol and members of the Canine Unit responded.
 
Canine Unit members acquired a track which ultimately led them to a suite located in the 500 block of Dufferin Avenue. All three suspects were located and arrested at that time. A recovery of the stolen property was also made.
 
The investigation continued by District 3 Detectives.
 
Two 17 year-old males and a16 year-old male are facing numerous charges, some of which include:
 
Break, Enter and Theft
Mischief Under $5000.00
 
One of the 17 year-old males was released on a Promise to Appear. The other 17 year-old male and 16 year-old male were detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre. 
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C13-258357
On December 16, 2013 at approximately 8:50 p.m., officers responded to a gas station located in the 1400 block of Jefferson Avenue regarding a robbery involving a male and female suspect.
 
A 22 year-old female employee was confronted by the pair at which time they demanded money. The female suspect produced a weapon and insisted that the till be opened. Both suspects eventually fled with and undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise.
 
No injuries were reported.
 
The suspects are described as:
 
Male suspect – Aboriginal in appearance, tall and skinny build
Female suspect – Aboriginal in appearance, short and heavy build
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
  
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY   C13-257795
On December 16, 2013 at approximately 3:40 a.m., two male suspects entered a convenience store located in the 400 block of Edison Avenue and confronted a 45 year-old male employee.
 
One suspect was armed with a weapon when staff was approached. The suspects jumped over the counter at which time cigarettes and other merchandise was stolen.
 
The suspect fled and police were notified.
 
The suspects are described as:
 
Caucasian, male, 30 years of age, 5'8" tall, medium build and in possession of a weapon
 
Caucasian, male, 30 years of age, 5'10" tall and chubby build
