Kick-off for WPS Half Marathon & 2 Person Relay

Winnipeg Police Service 9th Annual Cops for Cancer Half Marathon

On May 5th, 2013 the Winnipeg Police Service will be hosting its 9th Annual Half Marathon in support of the Cops for Cancer program. The run is being hosted by the Winnipeg Police Service, the Winnipeg Iron-Cops, and The Running Room.  For the first time, the event will offer a 2 wave start.  The first wave will be at 8:00am; the 2nd wave will follow at 8:30am.
The event starts and finishes inside the Assiniboine Park near the foot bridge. The course will remain the same as last years which can also be accessed by going to www.wpshalfmarathon.ca.

The course will remain open for four hours to allow runners, wheelchair athletes and walkers to participate. Participants are welcome to register in person or on-line at any Running Room location/website; at the Canadian Cancer Society Office at 193 Sherbrook Street; or through the event website at www.wpshalfmarathon.ca.


Registering early is recommended as there are only 2600 runners allowed – 2000 half marathon runners and 300 Two-Person relay teams.  Early bird registration is $78.75 for the half marathon and $157.50 for the Two-Person relay teams until January 31st, 2013.

All participants receive a complimentary souvenir T-Shirt with their registration; refreshments throughout the course, a pancake breakfast, entertainment after the race, and a surprise finisher's gift!

The top three male and female finishers will be announced and presented with a cash purse prize as follows:

1. First place male and female - $1,000.00 each
2. Second place male and female - $500.00 each
3. Third place male and female - $250.00 each

All net proceeds raised will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society and remains in Manitoba.
