MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC ASSISTS OFFICERS C12-262256
On December 31, 2012 at approximately 12:05 a.m., a supervising officer was patrolling the area of the 400 block of Main Street when he observed an assault in progress.
 
The officer took action and attempted to arrest a male suspect when a confrontation erupted. While efforts to take custody of the aggressive male continued, an uninvolved member of the public offered assistance to the officer prior to additional police units arriving. As a result of the assistance offered, the combative and belligerent male suspect was safely taken into police custody.
 
It was later discovered that the Good Samaritan left the area in a vehicle prior to being identified by police and thanked by involved members.
 
The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting that the unidentified member of the public who assisted the officer contact police at 204 986-6288.
 
 
FIRE C13-006059
On January 9, 2013 at approximately 8:30 p.m., emergency services responded to a working fire at a residence located in the 500 block of Redwood Avenue.
 
The fire was extinguished by members of the Winnipeg Fire Department and no serious injuries were reported.
 
Damage to the property is estimated at $135,000.00.
 
At this time, the cause of the fire is being considered suspicious in nature.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Arson Strike Force. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 204 986-6813 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477). 
  
 
STABBING C13-00624
On January 10, 2013 at approximately 1:50 a.m., Division 13 Uniform Patrol members were alerted to a male down in the area of Selkirk Avenue and Parr Street.
 
After further investigation, officers located a 52 year old male with injuries consistent with being stabbed. Paramedics were requested and the male victim was transported from the scene in critical condition.
 
At this stage of the investigation, it appears that the male was a victim of a robbery attempt involving a male and female suspect. The victim was walking home when he was confronted by the suspects in the area of McKenzie Street and Selkirk Avenue. The victim was physically assaulted and stabbed. Nothing was stolen and the suspects fled southbound on McKenzie Street.
 
The suspects are described as:
 
Male, Aboriginal in appearance, skinny build, 6'1"-6'2" tall, 18-19 years of age wearing a dark jacket and baggy jeans
 
Female, Aboriginal in appearance, 120-125 lbs., 5'1"-5'2" tall, 25-26 years of age wearing a dark jacket with grey or white fur around the hood
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Division 13 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact police at 204 986-2848 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – ARRESTS C12-65579
On April 11, 2012 at approximately 11:30 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a hotel vendor located in the 2000 block of Main Street regarding a robbery incident involving a male and female suspect.
 
The armed suspects confronted a 51 year old male employee at which time he was assaulted to the upper body. Beer and cash were stolen before fleeing the area.
 
As a result of an on-going investigation by members of the Major Crimes Unit, the two suspects were identified. 
 

With the assistance of RCMP members in the Treherne, Manitoba area, both suspects were located and placed under arrest. Members of the Winnipeg Police Service Major Crimes Unit attended the area and took custody of both suspects.
 
Taylor Alex LEVEQUE, 20 years of age has been charged with: Robbery with Violence and Breach of Probation x 4 due to his alleged involvement.
 
Reva Ashley BAPTISTE, 19 years of age has been charged with: Robbery with Violence due to her alleged involvement.
 
Both were detained.
