COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C13-007743
On Saturday, January 12, 2013 at approximately 7:30 a.m. officers were dispatched to a convenience store in the 2300 block of Ness Avenue for the report of a Commercial Robbery.
Investigators learned that a lone male armed with a weapon demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cigarettes from the lone clerk. The male then fled the store. The clerk was not injured during the incident.
The suspect is described as: White, 20-30 years of age, 5'8" - 6' in height and 150 - 180 pounds.

IMPAIRED DRIVING ARREST C13-008001
On January 12, 2013 at approximately 5:30 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police service were in an unmarked cruiser in the area of Aikins Street and Flora Avenue when they observed a vehicle being driven erratically.
Officers activated their emergency equipment at which point the suspect vehicle fled. A short pursuit ensued but was aborted due to the suspect's dangerous manner of driving.
The suspect vehicle was acquired by Air1 and followed to the area of Elgin Avenue and Isabel Street where it was observed to stop. Members of Air1 directed officers on the ground to the vehicle. Once officers arrived, the suspect intentionally drove into the passenger side of the marked cruiser causing minor damage.
The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. Neither officers nor the suspect were injured during the incident.
Gary Leo Joseph CARRIERE, 36 years of Winnipeg has been charged with: Flight from police officer, Assault peace officer with weapon or causing bodily harm x 2, Impaired Driving, Failure to Provide Breath Sample & Drive without a licence. He has been detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
COMMERCIAL FIRE C13-008115
On Saturday, January 12, 2013 at approximately 9:30 p.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to a business in the 200 block of Stradbrook Avenue for the report of a working fire.
The business was closed at the time and no injuries were reported.
The fire is believed to be the result of an electrical problem and is not considered suspicious at this time.
Total damage to the building and contents is estimated at $600,000.00.
