CHILD ABUSE IMAGERY – ARREST R13-3491
As a result of an on-going investigation by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Vice Unit and ICE Unit, officers executed a search warrant in July 2012 at a residence in the Tuxedo area of the city. During the search, electronic recording devices and laptops were seized from the home.
 
Since that time, members of the ICE Unit completed an extensive forensic search of the devices seized, subsequently locating a variety of images involving child pornography.
 
On January 15, 2013, members of the Vice Unit made contact with 43 year old, Darrell Erwin ACKMAN and charged him with the following offences due to his alleged involvement:
 
Make/Print/Publish Child Pornography x 2
Possessing Child Pornography x 2
Living on Avails of Prostitution x 3
 
He has been detained.
 
 
INDECENT ACT – ARREST C12-168591

Between July and September 2012, the Winnipeg Police Service received several reports of indecent acts occurring in the St. James area of the city involving a male suspect.
 
The suspect is alleged to have confronted several females while riding his bike. It was at this time the male was observed to expose himself and perform an indecent act.
 
As a result of the on-going investigation by members of the Sex Crimes Unit, the male was identified and arrested on January 16, 2013.
 
A 20 year old male is facing the following charges:
 
Indecent Act – Public Place x 4
 
He was released on an Appearance Notice.  

 
SUSPICIOUS MALE C13-11335
On January 17, 2013 at approximately 1:00 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to area of the 500 block of St. Anne's Road regarding a suspicious male.
 
Attending members met with three females (9-10 years of age) who indicated that while walking in the area at approximately 11:40 a.m., an unknown male approach them. The girls became uncomfortable and fled the area. It was at this time the male suspect began chasing them. No contact was made and the girls were not injured.
 
While the incident was being reported, it appears that the same male confronted another young female and began yelling out obscenities.  
 
The suspect is described as: Male, Aboriginal in appearance, in his thirties, between 5'6"-5'9" tall, dark brown moustache and a medium build. The suspect was observed wearing a red and black plaid jacket with a grey hoodie underneath, dark jeans, black gloves with red markings on them.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the East District Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 204 986-2857 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
ASSAULT INVESTIGATION C13-11803

On January 18, 2013 at approximately 4:10 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the 500 block of Burrows Avenue regarding an injured male being located.
 
The 25 year old male victim was transported from the scene in critical condition. He has since been upgraded to stable condition.
 
At this stage of the investigation, it appears that the victim was assaulted to the upper body causing serious injuries. No arrests have been made and limited information is available at this time regarding the circumstances.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Division 13 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 204 986-2848 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477).
