Update Arrest - Homicide Investigation – C16-40568

Male wanted:

As previously released, on February 27, 2016, shortly before 3:00 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the 800 block of Main Street for the report of a male having been assaulted.

A 43-year-old male was located and transported to hospital in critical condition suffering from injuries as the result of an apparent assault.  He later succumbed to his injuries.  The victim has been identified as Henry KIPLING, 43-years-of-age.

The investigation has revealed that the victim was assaulted twice, within a short period of time, by two separate individuals.

Initially, it's alleged that a female suspect and the victim became involved in a minor dispute while inside a nearby establishment. As a result, the suspect was ejected from the business. A short time later, the female confronted the victim again outside the business and assaulted him further. The victim was assisted and the two went their separate ways.

Approximately 30 minutes later, the victim was assaulted and robbed while in the same area during a separate incident involving a male suspect. The investigation has revealed that KIPLING was quietly waiting for a cab when he was attacked and robbed. He was incapacitated at the time due to the earlier assault. KIPLING sustained further injuries and was eventually transported to hospital.

Jenna Rose TRAVERSE, 23-years-old was arrested on March 3, 2016 and charged with Aggravated Assault due to her alleged involvement. She was remanded into custody.

A Canada-Wide Warrant for Manslaughter has been issued for the arrest of Travis CHIEF (aka Travis GUIMOND), 23-years-old as a result of the death of Henry KIPLING.

He is described as Aboriginal, 5'9" tall, 177 pounds, medium build, black hair and brown eyes.

It is believed that CHIEF has left Winnipeg and may be in the area of Waywayseecappo, Manitoba in the company of a male and female. They may be operating a blue sedan, possibly an Oldsmobile Alero, being driven by the female.

CHIEF is considered dangerous and should not be approached. If anyone encounters CHIEF, police should be contacted immediately.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit. Anyone with further information regarding this matter or the whereabouts of CHIEF is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6508, Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477) or their local police agency.
