FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION C13-86179
On May 8, 2013 at approximately 1:55 a.m., police and paramedics responded to Arlington Street and Polson Avenue regarding a serious single motor vehicle collision.
 
At this time, it has been determined that a brown 2000 Jeep Cherokee was travelling northbound on Arlington Street at a high rate of speed when it collided with a tree on the northeast side of the intersection.
 
A 45 year old male passenger has died as a result of the collision. A 30 year old female driver has been upgraded to serious but stable condition.
 
Members of the Central Traffic Unit and Forensic Identification Unit continue to investigate. 
 
Speed and alcohol are being considered factors in the collision.
 
The name of the deceased will not be released.
 
 
SNAKE LOCATED C13-86179
On May 7, 2013, at approximately 9:35 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the rear of the 200 block of Wellington Crescent regarding the report of a large snake being located.
 
Attending members confirmed that a live snake had been located in a dumpster at the rear of this location. It was at this time a Canine Unit member safely contained the snake and notified Animal Services.
 
 Animal Services continue to investigate.
