WEAPONS ARREST – C13-095513
On Monday, May 20, 2013 shortly before 12:30 a.m. a member of the Winnipeg Police Service Tactical Support Team came upon a motor vehicle collision that had just occurred at McDermot Avenue and Princess Street.
 
The officer observed two males arguing and after activating his emergency equipment he exited his vehicle at which point one of the males yelled that the other male had a gun.  The officer was able to take the male into custody without incident and request the assistance of further personnel.
 
Investigation has revealed that the driver of a blue Mercedes had pulled up alongside a silver Acura being driven by an unknown male that was stopped on Hargrave Street at Notre Dame Avenue.  The driver of the Mercedes looked over at the Acura where the driver appeared to be staring at him.  The Mercedes driver was unsure as to why and when he asked; the Acura's driver pointed a firearm at him.   The driver of the Mercedes proceeded north on Hargrave Street and as he turned east bound onto McDermot Avenue he heard something striking the rear of his vehicle.  The driver of the Acura then accelerated past the Mercedes, ran a red light at Princess Street, striking a southbound vehicle in the process. 
 
The southbound vehicle was being driven by a 23 year old female who was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
 
A firearm was located and seized at the scene.
 
A 22 year old male from Winnipeghas been detained at the Provincial Remand Centre and has been charged with: Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm – Motor Vehicle, Possessing controlled drug or substance – CANNABIS (MARIHUANA) and multiple firearms related offences
 
 
SEXUALT ASSAULTS ARRESTS – R13-010962
In February of 2013 members of the Winnipeg Police Service Sex Crimes Unit were approached by two separate complainants reporting that they had been the victims of sexual assault.
 
The first victim, a twenty one year old female reported that in September of 2010 she had been at a bar in the downtown area where she met the unknown female and male suspects.  She was later offered a ride home which she accepted.  However, instead of taking her home the two suspects drove the victim to their residence in the north east part of the city where they proceeded to sexually assault her.
 
The second victim, a 30 year old female reported that between April 1st & 30th of 2012 she was at a residence in the north east part of the city where she was sexually assaulted by a male and female acquaintance.
 
Between July 1st & August 31st of 2012 she was again at the residence where she was forced to consume a drug and then sexually assaulted by the same two persons.
 
On May 17, 2013 both suspects were arrested.
 
Richard Robert Charles GORDON 46 years of Winnipeghas been charged with Sexual Assault x 3, Assault, Administering Noxious Thing with intent to Endanger Life or Cause Bodily Harm & Overcoming Resistance to Commit Indictable Offence.
 
Jackie Erin BURGOYNE 35 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Sexual Assault x 3 & Assault.
 
Both were detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
SHOTS FIRED – C13-094262
On Sunday, May 19, 2013 members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched for the report of damage in the 900 block of Burrows Avenue.
 
Responding members met with the resident who advised that she had discovered what appeared to be damage from a single gunshot.  The damage has since been confirmed as being the result of a firearm discharge.
 
It was determined that the incident likely occurred around 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18.
 
No injuries were reported.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter or the identity of the suspect(s) is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
