WEAPONS ARRESTS – C13-087535
On Thursday, May 9, 2013 at approximately 7:30 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service Division 11 Community Support members were in the area of Isabel Street and Logan Avenue when they observed a large group of people acting in a suspicious manner.

Due to the number of people involved additional units were requested to assist.  Investigation resulted in several people being taken into custody.  Officers located and seized:

  • 3 cans of bear spray
  • An '8 ball'
  • Numerous machetes

Six youths, 14-17 years of age were arrested and later released via Promises to Appear with Undertaking.  They are facing charges of Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Carry concealed weapon.


DRUG ARREST – C13-088101
On Friday, May 10, 2013 shortly after 3:00 p.m. a Winnipeg Police Service Central Traffic member was in the area of McDermot Avenue and Princess Street when he attempted to stop a vehicle regarding an infraction of the Highway Traffic Act.

The female driver would not voluntarily stop but due to heavy traffic was forced to do so in the 1st 100 block of Princess Street.  As the officer approached the vehicle the driver drove off, colliding with three vehicles in the process.  The driver then proceeded to drive into a nearby parkade and flee on foot.

Canine members attended and the suspect was located a short distance away at which time she was taken into custody.

Caley Elizabeth STEELE 25 years of Lac Du Bonnet, Mb was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre and has been charged with Possess controlled drug or substance – Methamphetamine, Dangerous Operation – Motor Vehicle, Fail to Remain at Scene of Accident x 3, Fail to Comply with Condition Undertaking and As a driver – fail to wear seat belt (H.T.A.).  She was also processed on an outstanding warrant.
