Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

ASSAULT ARRESTS R11-13719
On February 16, 2011 at approximately 12:00 noon, a 14 year old male victim attended outside his school in the area of the 2200 block of Grant Avenue when he was confronted by a 15 year old female and 14 year old male.
 
The male and female suspects proceeded to physically assault the victim about the body. At one point during the altercation, lit cigarettes were thrown at the victim. As a result of the incident, the victim sustained minor upper and lower body injuries. It was also learned that the incident was videotaped and placed on the internet.
 
The investigation continued and arrests were made by a District 6 School Resource Officer.
 
A 15 year old female is facing a charge of Assault Cause Bodily Harm, and a 14 year old male is facing a charge of Assault with a Weapon.
 
The have been released on a Promise to Appear.
 

STRONG ARM ROBBERY C11-36886
On February 22, 2011 at approximately 8:15 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the area of Princess Street and McDermot Avenue regarding a stabbing incident.
 
The investigation has revealed that a 21 year old male victim had been socializing with a group of individuals he had met earlier in the day. Later in the evening, the group physically assaulted the victim at which time he was stabbed to the lower body. His wallet, identification and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen at that time.
 
The victim was conveyed to hospital in unstable condition, later upgraded to stable condition.
 
The suspects are described as: 2 females, 3 males, 14-15 years of age.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact investigators at 986-6668 or CrimeStoppers at 786-TIPS (8477).
