Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION C11-37524
Previously, the Winnipeg Police Service released information requesting the public's assistance in locating a 73 year old female, Elizabeth LAFANTAISIE. A description of LAFANTAISIE, including her vehicle was release at that time.
 
Missing Persons Investigators have since located LAFANTAISIE'S vehicle parked in the area of River Avenue and Lewis Street. The vehicle has been towed from the area where it will undergo further analysis by Forensic Identification members.
 
As a result of the ongoing investigating, Elizabeth LAFANTAISIE, 73 years has been located deceased within the vehicle. An autopsy is pending to determine cause of death.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit.
 
Investigators believe that the victim's vehicle was taken to a coin-operated car wash by the suspect(s) on Friday, February 18, 2011, at which time the vehicle was washed. Anyone who may have observed a dark green, 2006 Pontiac, Grand Prix, 4 door being washed in a suspicious manner by the suspect(s) is asked to contact police immediately.

ASSAULT ARREST C11-36214
On February 20, 2011, members of the Winnipeg Police Service became involved in an assault related investigation and subsequently attended to a residence in the River Heights area of Winnipeg.
 
The investigation has revealed that a 65 year old male suspect allegedly became involved in confrontation with a family member identified as an adult female. As a result, the suspect physically assaulted the female to the upper body causing minor injuries. The female was also threatened by the suspect at the time of the incident.
 
On February 24, 2011 an arrest warrant was obtained and Brian CORRIN, 65 years was arrested. He has been charged with the following offences: Assault and Utter Threats.
 
He has been released on a Promise to Appear.
