Robbery - Arrests: C18-67632
On April 3, 2018, at approximately 10:45 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received a holdup alarm from a business in the first 100 block of St. Anne's Rd. An employee advised that they were robbed by a male armed with a handgun who fled in a vehicle.
   
Officers in the area observed the suspect vehicle and began to pursue it. The vehicle came to a stop in the area of St. Marys Rd and Sherwood Pl. One person fled from the vehicle and the driver, an adult female, was taken into custody.
   
General Patrol, Major Crimes, Tactical Support, Air 1, and a K-9 unit assisted searching for the suspect. He was located a short time later in the first 100 block of Sunset Blvd.
   
The firearm used and the stolen money was recovered by police.
   
Investigators believe the same two people are also responsible for the following robberies:
   

  • February 9, 2018 - Business in the 700 block of St Marys Rd.
  • February 23, 2018 - Business in the 1500 block of Main St.
  • March 7, 2018 - Business in the 1600 block of Henderson Hwy.
  • March 8, 2018 - Business in the first 100 block of Main St. in Selkirk, Manitoba
  • March 8, 21018 - Business in the 3000 block of Portage Ave.
  • March 17, 2018 - Business in the 1800 block of Grant Ave.
  • March 18, 2018 - Business in the 1600 block of Henderson Hwy.
  • March 20, 2018 - Business in the 1100 block of Henderson Hwy.
  • March 24, 2018 - Business in the 600 block of Osborne St.
  • March 27, 2018 - Business in the 200 block of Henderson Hwy.
  • March 30, 2018 - Business in the 600 block of Osborne St.
  • April 2, 2018 - Business in the 2000 block of Portage Ave.

 
Money was stolen in each occurrence. No injuries were reported.
   
Julie Penner, a 27-year-old female of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

  • Armed Robbery using a Firearm X13

Craig Dorland Robert HALL, a 31-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

  • Armed Robbery using a Firearm X14
  • Carry Concealed Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition X13
  • Possess Weapon X13
  • Disguise with Intent X13
  • Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence X13
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order X39
  • Pointing a Firearm X9

 
Both have been remanded into custody.
   
This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
   
Assault - Arrests: C18-67978
On April 4, 2018, at approximately 12:00 p.m., Winnipeg Police received a report of a male stabbed at Glenlawn Collegiate. A 16-year-old male, suffering from a single stab wound to the upper body, was treated in hospital and later released.
   
A second 16-year-old male, with minor injuries, was taken into custody.
   
Officers learned that both males, who are students at the school, entered into an argument which resulted in a physical confrontation.
   
The male believed to be responsible for the stabbing has been charged with Assault with a Weapon and Possess Weapon. He was released on a Promise to Appear.
   
The male stabbed was also arrested, charged with Assault, and released on a Promise to Appear.
