Crime Prevention Tip

The temperature is rising; people are outside longer and more often including criminals. Here are a few tips on how not to become a victim.

  • Always keep your doors and windows closed and secured when you are in or go out of the house, even if you are away for a short period of time.
  • Ensure your garage doors are shut and secure.
  • Be aware of home improvements scams. Be careful doing business with people who just show up at your door with "the best deal". Check identification and references, read contract carefully before you commit.
  •  Install motion-activated lights in your front and backyards, so when someone approaches your home, the lights automatically come on, illuminating that person.
  • Being a good neighbor can be one of the best crime prevention tools. Watchful, attentive neighbours can spot suspicious activities and alert the police to their presence. Get involved in your community and the first step to that is getting to know your neighbours.
Have a great week ahead!
