Firearm – Arrest: C18-31416
 
On February 13, 2018, at approximately 4:45 a.m., Division 11 General Patrol members responded to a report of a break & enter at an apartment building in the 600 block of Ellice Avenue.
 
Upon arrival, officers located a suspect male hiding behind a doorway wearing a balaclava and a face mask. The male was safely taken into custody and a search of his person revealed the following:
 
- A heavily reduced sawed-off .22 calibre rifle.
- A pouch containing .22 calibre ammunition cartridges.
- A second pouch containing .17 HMR calibre ammunition cartridges.
- A large hunting knife.

This investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit and the break & enter was determined to be unfounded.
 
Jesse James DAHER, a 25-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
 
- Possession of a Weapon (x2)
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition (x2)
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition (x2)
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x2)
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)
- Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice (x4)
 
He was also processed on five different outstanding arrest warrants and was detained in custody.
 
Suspicious Death – Investigation: C18-32093
 
On February 14, 2018, at approximately 2:30 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a call for service in the 500 block of Furby Street.
 
Upon arrival, an adult male was located deceased. No further details are available at this stage of the investigation. 
 
This investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
