Homicide – Wanted: C18-13242   

As previously released:
On January 18, 2018 at approximately 5:45 p.m., emergency services personnel responded to a report of an injured female in the 400 block of Furby Street. 

General Patrol officers attended and identified an adult female suffering from a stab wound to her lower body. The victim was identified as Angel BEAULIEU, 22-years-old. She was transported to hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to her injuries.

Winnipeg Police homicide investigators have identified Lanessa MOSKOTAYWENENE as a suspect:

She is described as an Indigenous female, 18-years-old, with black hair and brown eyes, approximately 5'4" in height and 160 lbs.

MOSKOTAYWENENE is wanted for Manslaughter and Aggravated Assault. If located, she is not to be approached. Anyone with information on her whereabouts or with information that may assist investigators in locating her is asked to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

 

Attempt Murder - Arrest: C17-282155

As previously released:

On December 16, 2017, at approximately 4:00 a.m., emergency services personnel responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 300 block of Aikins Street.

Upon arrival, an injured adult female was located. She was transported to hospital in critical condition and has since been upgraded to stable condition.

A second victim, a youth male, is currently in hospital in stable condition.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and learned that an altercation took place between a number people at a house party. The suspect, who was in attendance, concealed his face, removed a shotgun which he had hidden on his person and discharged it through a closed door. A 19-year-old female was struck with pellets while a 15-year-old male was struck by pellets and shrapnel.

Investigators were able to identify a suspect and on January 31, 2018 arrested Steven Lester Paul SANDERSON, 18-years-old of Grand Rapids, Manitoba. He has been charged with:

  • Attempt to Commit Murder Using a Firearm X2
  • Use Firearm During Commission of Indictable Offence
  • Careless use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Point Firearm
  • Possess Weapon
  • Carry Concealed Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order X2
  • Discharge Firearm Into or At a Place in a Reckless Manner
  • Disguise with Intent

He has been detained in custody.

 

Firearm - Arrest: C18-22911

On January 31, 2018 at approximately 8:10 p.m., District 3 General Patrol officers observed three males in the area of Aikins Street and Alfred Avenue. As officers approached, one male fled and two others remained. Upon speaking to the males officers learned that one male was in possession of a shotgun hidden beneath his clothing.

Officers seized the shotgun which was found to be loaded.

Kevin Carter SMITH, 24-years-old has been charged with:

  • Possess Weapon
  • Carry Concealed Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance X2
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order X2

He has been detained in custody.
