GROW OPERATION- ARREST - R12-119534
On November 21, 2012, after a lengthy investigation, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Drug Unit, assisted by District 2 Community Support and the Tactical Support Team executed a controlled drug and substance act search warrant at a commercial property located within the 1700 block of St. James Street.
 
Inside a large marihuana grow-operation was located and an adult male was taken into custody without incident. An adult female was later located and taken into custody. The following has been seized:
 
-       854 marihuana plants with an estimated street value of $956,000.00
-       Approximately $16,000.00 in grow- operation equipment
 
Fredrick Gordon PETERS of Winnipeg has been released to appear in court at a later date and has been charged with the following:
 
-       Possessing substance for purposes of trafficking - CANNABIS (MARIHUANA) x 2
-       Production of controlled substance - CANNABIS (MARIHUANA)
-       Possess Proceeds of Crime
 
Jane PETERS of Winnipeg has been released to appear in court at a later date and has been charged with the following:
 
-       Possessing substance for purposes of trafficking - CANNABIS (MARIHUANA)
-       Production of controlled substance - CANNABIS (MARIHUANA)
 
SEXUAL ASSAULT – C12-236519
On Thursday, November 22, 2012 at approximately 3:00 p.m. the victim was on Transit bus #16 when he was inappropriately touched by the suspect. The victim told the suspect to stop, to which he complied but minutes later again touched the victim. The victim then proceeded to exit the bus, while the suspect remained.
 
The suspect is described as a: Middle Eastern in appearance, 20-30 years of age, short, skinny build, medium sized nose with rounded end, black beard. He was wearing a striped white and blue long length scarf around his head, neck and face, black leather gloves, jacket green or grey in colour, sky blue pants.

FATAL FIRE UPDATE – C12-236110
As previously released, on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at approximately 2:50 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were patrolling in the area of the Morley Avenue and Nassau Street when the strong smell of acrid smoke was noted. Officers were able to locate a working fire in the 500 block of Hethrington Avenue. Attending officers requested fire personnel and then proceeded to enter the home in an attempt to locate person(s) inside but were forced out due to the intense heat and smoke.
 
Members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service attended and located inside an elderly male and fifty eight year old female. Both were transported to hospital in critical condition.
 
As previously reported the male succumbed to his injuries shortly after the incident.
 
The female has now succumbed to her injuries.
 
The cause of the fire is currently unknown and members of the Arson unit are investigating.
