Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

Thursday, November 15, 2012     HIGH RISK SEX OFFENDER – ARREST - C12-230713 On November 14, 2012, at approximately 4:10 p.m., members of the Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit were made aware of a male in the area of the 200 block of Donald Street who was breaching conditions of his Probation Order.   The male was observed to enter a facility and access a computer with internet capabilities which is in contravention of his order.   At approximately 6:00 p.m., Ryan James GABOURIE, 31 years was located and arrested in the area of the 2400 block of Henderson Highway.   He has been charged with Breach of Probation and detained.     SEXUAL ASSAULTS – ARREST C12-213911 In September 2012, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Sex Crimes Unit entered into an investigation involving two female victims aged 18 and 24 years.   The investigation has revealed that a male suspect previously known to the 24 year old victim as a result of attending support group meetings. On September 2, 2012, the victim was invited to the male's residence where drugs and alcohol were present. While at the residence, the victim began losing consciousness and a serious sexual assault occurred.   In July 2012, the male suspect met the 18 year old female victim under similar circumstances.   On October 22, 2012, the male suspect supplied the victim with alcohol resulting in her losing consciousness. It was at this time, a serious sexual assault occurred.   Both victims notified police at which time an investigation was launched.     On November 5, 2012, Dwain Nicky WALY, 60 years was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault x 2 due to his alleged involvement.     The investigation is continuing.     DRUG - ARREST C12-229283 On November 12, 2012, at approximately 10:15 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service attended to the area of the 400 block of Maryland Street regarding a male wanted by police.   Attending members observed a male fleeing the area which resulted in the deployment of Air1 and the Canine Unit.   Air1 located the suspect fleeing the area and directed Uniform Patrol members and members of the Canine Unit until which time the male was successfully apprehended.   A 16 year old male was found to be in possession of a quantity of drugs and breaching conditions of his order.   He has been charged with: Possessing Controlled Drug or Substance (Cocaine), Possessing Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine) and Breaching Conditions of his Supervision Order x 2.   He was detained.       For further information contact either: Constable Jason Michalyshen, Public Information Officer Constable Eric Hofley, Public Information Officer Office: (204)986-3061 Fax: (204) 986-3267 Email: WPS-PIO@Winnipeg.ca   Web: www.winnipeg.ca/Police
