Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

 

  

Tuesday, April 17th, 2012

MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION                                           C12-68926
On April 16th, 2012 at approximately 7:00 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were travelling southbound on Archibald Street near Cote Avenue after being dispatched to an incident in progress. The cruiser car's emergency equipment was activated.
 
A vehicle, travelling northbound on Archibald Street attempted to make a left hand turn into a parking lot and both vehicles collided.
 
As a result of the collision, four occupants of the second vehicle and both officers were conveyed to hospital. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage.
 
The incident is being investigated by Winnipeg Police Service Traffic Collision Investigation Section.

On April 16th, 2012 at approximately 6:00 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were travelling eastbound on Portage Avenue approaching Carlton Street after being dispatched to an incident in progress. The cruiser car's emergency equipment was activated.
 
A second vehicle was travelling southbound on Carlton Street. It entered the intersection and both vehicles collided.
 
As a result of the collision both officers were taken to hospital and have been released. The 26 year old driver of the second vehicle was treated at the scene. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage.
 
 
 ASSAULT WITH WEAPON                                        C12-68525
On April 16th, 2012 at approximately 5:00 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched for a report of an assault that had occurred in the vicinity Broadway and Spence Avenue.
 
Officers interviewed a 26 year old female who reported that she was walking on Spence Street when the male driver of a vehicle pulled over and forced her into the his car. The suspect was armed with knife. The suspect then drove to a nearby lane.
 
The victim was able to flee the vehicle when a local resident became alerted to the struggle and began yelling. The victim fled to a nearby business and contacted police. The victim did not sustain any injuries.
 
The suspect is described as:
 
  • Black male, 6'0", 160 – 180lbs.
  • Thin to medium build.
  • Black Jacket, brown pants
  • Older model red coloured 4 door car
  • Possibly a Pontiac Grand Am, or Oldsmobile Alero.
