On April 6, 2012, at approximately 3:00 p.m., an off-duty Winnipeg Police Officer was operating his personal vehicle in the area of the Chief Peguis Trail Bridge and Main Street.

It was during this time that the officer observed the driver of a Mazda Protégé position their vehicle directly behind him while honking the horn. The driver of the Mazda was further observed to be operating their vehicle in an unsafe and erratic manner.

The driver of the Mazda then began making gestures toward the officer indicating that they wanted him (the off-duty officer) to pull over. The officer obliged at which time both vehicles stopped near the intersection of Main Street and Red River Boulevard.

Upon exiting his vehicle, the off-duty member immediately identified himself as a Winnipeg Police Officer. As the officer was producing his identification, the lone female driver suddenly assaulted the officer to the upper body. The female continued to make several attempts to assault the officer.

Additional police resources were summoned at which time the female suspect was placed under arrest. While doing so, the female continued to be verbally belligerent and physically assaulted three other officers.
