SPRING CLEAN UP REMINDER- SECURE YOUR LOADS
As spring cleaning is well underway, the Winnipeg Police Service would like to take this opportunity to remind citizens to properly secure any load carried on or behind your vehicle.

Unsecured loads have the potential to cause motor vehicles collisions and injuries when debris or materials are displaced and enter the path of other vehicles travelling on the roadway.

The transportation of large items including furniture, building materials or refuse needs to be appropriately secured or covered so that these items do not become dislodged from the vehicle.

Offence notices can be issued to motorists for failing to properly secure their loads.

MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION   C12-65246
On April 11th, 2012 at approximately 3:00 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service Division 11 members along with emergency services responders were dispatched to the intersection of Main Street and Logan Avenue for the report of a motor vehicle collision.

Upon arrival officers learned that a collision between two vehicles had occurred which resulted in one vehicle mounting the sidewalk area striking two pedestrians before colliding with a business.

Paramedics transported the male drivers, aged 65 and 75 years, as well as two male pedestrians, aged 49 and 51 years, to the hospital.  The 51 year old pedestrian had been transported to the hospital in unstable condition and he was later upgraded to stable condition.

As a result of the investigation conducted by Division 11 members, it has been determined that the 2010 Cadillac Seville was traveling northbound on Main Street when it is alleged to have entered the intersection against a red light, colliding with the 2009 Honda Accord which was travelling eastbound on Logan Avenue.

A provincial offence notice has been issued to the 65 year old male driver.
