Vehicle Robbery - Arrest: C18-105937
As previously released:
On May22, 2018, at approximately 6:00 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to a robbery in the 1000 block of McGregor Street in which a vehicle was stolen. Officers attended and searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
The 48-year-old female victim advised that she was sitting in her car when she was approached by two males. One male, armed with a handgun, demanded that she exit the vehicle. The victim complied and the male got into the driver's side of the vehicle while the second male enter the passenger side and sat down. The males fled with the vehicle which is described as a red, 2013, Toyota Corolla.
The suspects are described as Indigenous males, 20 - 25 years of age. One has a thin build with long dark hair, and the second has an average build with short dark hair.
On May 24, 2018, at approximately 3:20 a.m., general patrol members observed the stolen vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the area of Portage Avenue and St. James Street. The vehicle turned off of Portage Avenue in the area of Ferry Road. Officers searched the area and located a female, matching the description of the driver in the area of Portage Avenue and Lyle Street. She was detained.
Officers located the stolen vehicle in the area of Bruce Avenue and Sackville Street.
Shelby Dawn WAYWARD,a 24-year-old female of Winnipeg has been charged with Flight while Pursue by Peace Officer, Drive Suspended and Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000.
Aggravated Assault - Arrest: C18-108387,
On May 24, 2018, at approximately 2:40 p.m. the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to a robbery which just occurred in the area of Chancellor Matheson Rd. and University Cr. A 45-year-old male advised that he returned to his vehicle in a parking lot to find that his tires had been stashed and his vehicle had been entered.
The victim located two males nearby, going through property stolen from his vehicle. When he confronted the males and asked for his property back a physical altercation took place. One of the suspects produced a knife and attempted to slash the victim. The males fled and the victim retrieved his wallet.
The suspect males then attended to a vehicle parked on Tulane Bay which was reported stolen May 23, 2018, from the 1800 block of Pembina Hwy. The vehicle was recovered by police, however, the males were no longer present.
On May 24, 2018, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a report of a 30-year-old male stabbed in the 100 block of Ulster Street. Officers attended and located an adult male with stab wounds to the upper body. While providing first aid to the victim, officers were advised by witnesses that the suspects were nearby. After a short foot pursuit, officers arrested two males, both with blood on their clothing.
Officers learned that the victim confronted the two males who were causing a disturbance outside and asked them to move along as there were children in the area. One of the males produced a pocket knife and attacked the victim, who fell to the ground. The victim was stabbed in the upper body by one male, while the second male jumped on the victim. A female attempted to intervene however the male with the knife turned his attention to her. She and the victim were chased by males but able to get to an area of safety.
The males were identified as being responsible for the robbery reported earlier.
Batista Nikola SANDERSON, a 24-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with: - Assault with a Weapon X2

- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Robbery
- Mischief Under
- Possession of an Identity Document X3
He has been detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
A 14-year-old male of Winnipeg has been arrested for Assault with a Weapon, Robbery, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Assault with a Weapon.
Update: Suspicious Deaths – Investigation: C18-105707
As previously released:
On May 21, 2018, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received a request to check the well-being of a resident in the 600 block of Buckingham Road.
Officers attended and located two deceased adults in the residence.
Members of the Homicide Unit continued to investigate the incident. They have identified the two deceased persons as Angela Turner, a 50-year-old female and Lorne Turner, a 58-year old male.
Investigators have determined that the incident was domestic related and that the female had been assaulted, sustaining upper-body injuries, prior to her death. The male's injuries were found to be self-inflicted.
While investigators are not seeking for any outstanding persons related to this investigation, they would like to speak with anyone who may be able to provide additional information which may assist in the investigation.
