Groping Incidents – Arrest: R18-30777 & C18-103583
As previously released on Saturday, May 20, 2018, the Winnipeg Police Service has recently received the report of two groping incidents in the Downtown area.
   
On May 18, 2018, at approximately 7:50 a.m., a female in her 30's was walking in the skywalk near the Bell MTS Place and Cityplace Shopping Centre connection when she was approached by a male and grabbed.
   
On May 19, 2018, at approximately 9:15 a.m., a female in her late teens was walking in a public walkway between the YCMA and Portage Place Shopping Centre when she was approached by a male and grabbed.
   
Investigators learned of a third incident where a male had been acting suspiciously around a female in her late teens on May 19, 2018, at approximately 6:45 a.m. in the Portage Place Shopping Centre.
   
On May 22, 2018, at approximately 4:40 p.m., an officer patrolling the skywalk in the downtown area observed a male matching the description of the suspect. The male was taken into the custody in the area of Portage Avenue and Vaughn Street.
   
A 15-year-old male has been arrested for Sexual Assault X2. He was released on a Promise to Appear.
   
   
Theft Over - Arrest: R17-42206
On May 30, 2017 members of the Winnipeg Police Pawn Unit entered into an investigation after several suspicious pawns were made by the same female. Officers discovered several past pawns of similar items made by a male suspect dating back to 2013.
   
Through the course of the investigation, officers learned that between May and July 2015, the suspect male stole approximately $32,800 worth of tools from his employer. He began pawning the stolen tools in May 2013. The female suspect began pawning the stolen tools in August 2014 at various locations.
   
Officers were able to recover approximately $20,200 worth of stolen property.
   
On May 21, 2018, both suspects were located at a residence in the 400 block of Redwood Avenue.
   
A 56-year old male of Winnipeg was arrested for Theft Over $5000.  A 45-year-old female of Winnipeg was arrested for Possess Goods Obtained by Crime Over $5000. Both have been released on Promise to Appear.
   
   
Vehicle Robbery: C18-105937
On May 22, 2018, at approximately 6:00 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to a robbery in the 1000 block of McGregor Street in which a vehicle was stolen. Officers attended and searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
   
The 48-year-old female victim advised that she was sitting in her car when she was approached by two males. One male, armed with a handgun, demanded that she exit the vehicle.  The victim complied and the male got into the driver's side of the vehicle while the second male enter the passenger side and sat down. The males fled with the vehicle which is described as a red, 2013, Toyota Corolla.
   
The suspects are described as Indigenous males, 20 - 25 years of age. One has a thin build with long dark hair, and the second has an average build with short dark hair.
   
This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
   
Robbery: C18-105734
On May 21, 2018, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to a robbery in the first 100 block of Donald Street. Two adult males advised that they were attending to a car in a parking structure when they were approached by a lone male swinging a belt. The male threatened to harm the victims if they did not give him money. The suspect was given a small amount of money and cigarettes and fled.
   
The victims were not harmed.
   
The suspect is described as male, 20 - 30 years of age, with a thin build, short dark hair and unshaven face. He was wearing jeans and a t-shirt and carrying a pair of black boots.
   
This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
