Update:  Missing Person/Body Recovered from Red River - C180089395 &C18-101121

April Carpenter has been located. She has been identified as the deceased person removed from the Red River on May 16, 2018.

The investigation is continuing. Investigators are looking to speak with individuals who may have had contact with April on the evening of Thursday, April 26, 2018 and beyond. Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to call investigators at 204-986-6508.

 

Previously released:

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating a missing 23-year-old female, April Carpenter.

Carpenter was last seen in the West end of Winnipeg on Thursday, April 26th, 2018.

Carpenter is described as an Indigenous female, 5'7", 130 lbs, with light brown shoulder length hair and noticeable dimples.

The Winnipeg Police Service is concerned about Carpenter's well-being and is asking anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250

Body Recovered From Red River – C18-101121

On May 16, 2018, at approximately 12:00 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the banks of the Red River in the 600 block of Kildonan Drive regarding a body being located.                                             

The body of a female was recovered by members of the Winnipeg Police Underwater Search and Recovery Unit.                                                    

The cause of death is unconfirmed and an autopsy is pending.

No further information is available at this time. The investigation is continuing.
