Commercial Robbery Arrest – C14-90975
On May 5, 2014, shortly before 10:00 a.m. officers attended to a grocery store in the 600 block of Stella Avenue for the report of a commercial robbery that had just occurred.
 
Officers spoke with victim who advised that an unknown male attended to the counter.  He then produced a weapon, demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes after which he fled on foot.
 
The victim was not injured.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation and were able to identify a suspect.  Attempts to locate him were unsuccessful and a warrant of arrest for Michael John DESMARAIS, 23 years of Winnipeg was subsequently obtained.
 
On February 16, 2015, officers came across DESMARAIS while on an unrelated matter and the warrant of arrest came to light.
 
DESMARAIS has been charged with Robbery and Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose for his alleged involvement.
 
He was detained in custody.
 

Commercial Robbery – C15-33579
On February 16, 2015, at approximately 7:00 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to a convenience store in the 500 block of London Street for the report of a commercial robbery.
 
The clerk reported that three unknown males, with their identities concealed, had entered the store.  One of the males produced a weapon, demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.  All three were seen to flee the store on foot.
 
The clerk was not injured.
 
The three suspects appeared to be white males in their early twenties.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter or the identity of the suspects is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
