Winnipeg Police Service

WPS Team Hoops it up against Manitoba Corrections in a 3 game
"Battle of the Badges" Basketball Series

The Winnipeg Police Service basketball team will be taking on Manitoba Corrections in a friendly three game series. All proceeds from the games will support the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

Our team, made up of officers of all ranks, including our very own Chief Clunis, has already played a number of games this year against varsity basketball teams as part of our "Respect in Sport" initiative.

The interaction with students is not only fun and entertaining, but it is an opportunity to build on our positive relationships with the school community.

The series will be played at the following schools:

Friday, February 13, 2015, 11:45 a.m. at Hedges Middle School
Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Salisbury Morse Place School
Friday, April 10, 2015, at Henry G Izatt Middle School

Members of the media are welcome to attend, however the schools are closed to the public.

Any schools wishing to host future games against the Winnipeg Police Service can contact Constable Minkus at mminkus@winnipeg.ca

For further information contact either:
