MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION INVOLVING STOLEN VEHICLE – UPDATE - ARREST C10-270689
As previously released, on November 27th, 2010 at approximately 6:10 a.m., uniform members were dispatched to the area of Saskatchewan Avenue and King Edward Street regarding a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles.
 
The investigation has revealed that a stolen GMC Yukon travelling eastbound on Saskatchewan Avenue collided with a Chevrolet Uplander travelling southbound on King Edward Street. A nearby light standard and hydro pole was also struck as a result of the collision. Both vehicles sustained extensive front end damage.
 
The occupants of the stolen vehicle fled the area on foot. The victim in the Chevrolet Uplander was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
 
A 16 year old male was located and arrested near the scene of the collision. As a result of the investigation, it is alleged that the youth was also involved in additional thefts of motor vehicles prior to the collision occurring. Details pertaining to these incidents are not available at this time. 
 
He has been charged with: Criminal Negligence Cause Bodily Harm, Theft Over $5000.00 x 2, Theft Under $5000.00, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Possess/Consume Liquor Under 18 years of age.
 
He has been detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre.   
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Stolen Auto Unit.
