Winnipeg Police Service News Release

 

  TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 23rd, 2010  

 
RESIDENTIAL BREAK AND ENTER    C10-267761
On November 23nd, 2010 at approximately 3:30 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service Uniform Officers responded to the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue for a report of a residence that was broken into. 
 
A 23 year old male had been transported to the hospital in unstable condition and he has since been upgraded to stable condition. 
 
A number of individuals are being interviewed at this by members of the Division 13 Crime Unit. This investigation is in its early stages and no further information is available at this time. 
 
 
ASSAULT PEACE OFFICER INCIDENTS     C10-267599 & C10-267506
On November 22nd, 2010 at approximately 7:20 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service Uniform Members were dispatched to a residence within the 500 block of College Avenue to assist Winnipeg Paramedics with an uncooperative female.   
 
Upon arrival officers located an 18 year old female who was acting in an aggressive manner and refusing to cooperative with Paramedics. This female's actions towards the Paramedics continued and as Officers attempted to intervene, this female allegedly assaulted a 28 year old male officer.
 
The Officer received treatment for minor upper body injuries that were sustained as a result of the assault.
 
An eighteen year old female, who was also found to be breaching her Probation Order, is facing one count of Assault Peace Officer. She has since been detained in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
 
Later that day, at approximately 9:00 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service Uniform Members responded to a domestic dispute in the 400 block of Perth Avenue. During the arrest of a 41 year old male, both male officers were injured. 
  
Both male officers, aged 31 and 33 years, received treatment for upper body injuries sustained as a result of this incident.   
 
The 41 year old male has been charged with Assault, Obstruct/ Resist Peace Officer and Assault a Peace Officer.  He has been detained in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
 
 
STRONG ARM ROBBERY            C10-267230
On November 22nd, 2010 at approximately 11:45 a.m. a 53 year old male victim was walking westbound on McDermot Avenue approaching Sherbrook Street when he was approached by two male suspects.
One of the suspects, believed to be armed with a weapon demanded money from the victim. When the victim advised that he did not have any money, one of the suspects kicked him twice in the lower body and proceeded to steal a ring that the victim was wearing as well as a bag containing various medications.  
 
The suspects then fled the area and police were notified. The male victim received treatment for minor injuries that he had sustained.
 
Suspect Male #1:  Black, 21 to 23 years, 5'10" tall with a skinny build, short black hair and a slight moustache.  The suspect was wearing a red and black checked jacket
 
Suspect Male #2:  Aboriginal in appearance, 28 to 31years, 6'3"-6'4" tall, with a heavy build.  He was wearing a black hat, jeans and a grey jacket
 
The Grey Cup ring is described as; gold in colour with a diamond on the top and a blue background. Inscribed on the ring is "score 47-17, Number 30, Position FB"
 
This investigation is continuing by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident or the suspect(s) is asked to contact police at 986-6668 or CrimeStoppers 786-TIPS (8477).
