DANGEROUS OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE - ARREST C10-272194
On November 29, 2010 at approximately 7:50 a.m., officer's responded to a stolen vehicle incident in the area of the 700 block of Erin Street.
 
The investigation has since revealed that a 27 year old male suspect entered an unoccupied vehicle not belonging to him when he was confronted by the owner, a 53 year old male. The suspect was detained by a 33 year old male while police were notified by the owner. It was during this time the suspect threatened the 33 year old male victim.
 
The suspect eventually fled the area and was again observed entering another unattended parked vehicle. The victim continued to follow the suspect at which time he (suspect) armed himself with a fence board, swinging it in the direction of the victim. As a result, the victim left the area.
 
The suspect then entered his rental vehicle and began driving southbound on Clifton Street. Attending members observed the suspect vehicle operating at a high rate of speed nearly colliding with a police cruiser.
 
The suspect continued to operate the vehicle erratically near the area of the 1200 block of Portage Avenue. As a result, the suspect made contact with a gas line attached to a residence in the 500 block of Clifton Street and ultimately became lodged between a house and concrete fence.
 
The male was taken into custody.
 
The 27 year old male is facing the following charges: Assault with a Weapon, Utter Threats to cause Death or Bodily Harm and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
 
He remains in custody at this time.
